Since the mid-1990s, Henrik Olesen has used media such as collage, sculpture, and minimalistic spatial intervention to investigate the social construction of identity and its historiography. Through the appropriation of source images and contextual shifts not dissimilar to the method invented by Aby Warburg for his “Mnemosyne Atlas,” Olesen probes the associations between homosexuality and its criminalization in the past, as well as in the present. His archival work sheds light on the enduring existence of spaces for Others, and inscribes homosexual subculture once more into the history of art and culture

Herzogs sidste dage er en dokumentarisk beretning “om naturens hævn, svampenes væren og menneskets livsdrift. Historien følger den tyske filminstruktør Werner Herzogs kamp mod den sjældne sygdom somatoxi og hans heroiske forsøg på at kurere sig selv. Tilstanden skal behandles med stoffet soma, som består af en cocktail af psykedeliske svampe, der bedst lader sig finde i den særegne natur i eksklusionszonen omkring Tjernobylværket i Ukraine. Anført af stalkeren Boris drager Herzog sammen med en mindre ekspedition ind i zonen og afslører dag for dag nye aspekter af en autonom økologi og et desperat menneskes forvandling.
