“You can leaf through a book while to peruse leaves in nature is something animals do. A flyleaf is a blank leaf at the beginning or end of a book. A plant leaf may fly freely in autumn. A leaf in a book is stuck there, unless someone removes it on purpose. Flyers are probably the most autonomous variety of printed leaf. Sometimes dropped from above and carried by the wind until they land. As dry leaves hop, skip, and are blown along, they may flitter and flutter like hands leafing through pages of a book; the sound it makes. Leaves of paper and leaves from plants might even get caught up in the same whirling breeze. This compendium presents a selection of leaf silhouettes in the following order: quince, plum, raspberry, walnut, grape, apple, morello, hazelnut, blackberry, blueberry, fig, gooseberry, mulberry, redcurrant, blackcurrant, strawberry”
