FCatalog raisonné of the early objects & material pictures 1960-75. At the beginning of January 1998 the author sent a copy of the dissertation he had already submitted to the university to Dieter Roth as a courtesy. After six weeks he got his work back, which the artist had corrected and supplemented in detail by the artist: hundreds of drawings, short texts, descriptions and comments, “explosion” drawings that perfectly explain the construction and construction of individual works, detailed drawings that point out particularities, explained informatively, often humorous, lovingly correcting the author – masterful, brilliant graphic comments. The dissertation makes a contribution to basic research and is divided into two systematic parts, which are now available in two volumes. The discursive part of the work can be found in the first volume, “Melancholischer Nippes”. The genesis of individual work complexes is shown and fundamental questions about the work and its theoretical background are pursued. The second volume provides the first catalog raisonné of all known objects and material images created between 1960 and 1975. Most of the objects presented are works using food and other organic materials. The material images, the graphic works with applied organic materials and, to some extent, the book objects from this period are also examined. Since the objects are in many public collections and museums, the question of conservation measures for works designed to decay is also being investigated. The use of rapidly perishable substances in art is a novelty in art history.
