The Democratic Forest. Introduction by Eudora Welty

New York: Doubleday, 1989. Oblonged 4to. Original hardcover boards complete with the original and unclipped photoillustrated dustjacket. 176 pp. Illustrated with 150 colour photographs. Some tiny marks to upper edge and jacket somewhat worn with tears to edges but dustjacket is now protected in archival acid-free mylar and overall its a fair, very good looking copy. Inside clean

First edition, 1st printing of Eggleston’s masterpiece that has been said to have changed the way we see the world (!) – Very good copy of the classic Eggleston photobook parading his unique ability to find beauty, and striking displays of color, in ordinary scenes: “old tyres, Dr Pepper machines, discarded air-conditioners, vending machines, empty and dirty Coca-Cola bottles, torn posters, power poles and power wires, street barricades, one-way signs (…)”. Excellent color printing, for some much preferable compared to newer and more technical powerful printings
