Published by Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, London, 1847. Two volumes octavo “Bound by Riviere & Son” (c. 1880’s) in red polished calf with raised bands tooled in gilt, double ruled gilt borders to covers, board edges and turn-ins gilt, marbled endpapers, and topedge gilt, title gilt on green morocco, decorations(including a deer, a horn and a bow) to spine gilt etc. Vol. I. pp. viii, xxxviii, [2], 391, [1]. Vol. II. pp. [4], vii, [1], xxii, [2], 447, [1]. A large number of illustrations throughout, listed in each volume and many being wood engravings in the style of Bewick. Light wear to covers and upper front corners somewhat dented (please see photos). A later inscription to free endpapers and foxing to same, scattered foxing to margins else clean and well preserved and in all a very good set indeed
