Attractive and very rare complete copy of Bill Brandt’s classic nude photographs in the Bodley Head first edition. With a preface by Lawrence Durrell and Introduction by Chapman Mortimer. Included in Parr & Badger 216 : “Brandt’s formal inventiveness and his keen eye for the surreal are most evident in the 90 photographs collected in ‘Perspective of Nudes’, a series that he began in 1945 and continued off and on until his death in1983, . . .in the end comparisons fail to convey Brandt’s utter originality.”

London: Bodley Head, 1961. 4to. Publishers boards with protected dustjacket (the mylar caused the reflects in my photo). Illustrated with 90 b/w plates, finely printed. Jacket with a little edgewear but unclipped and overall – just like the book iteself – , clean and remarkably well preserved

The exquisite printing in gravure – more or less completely lost in later reproductions – makes this nude photobook really stand out as a real midcentury masterpiece!
