Collage / Poesías y prosas chilenas – Extremely rare, one of only approximately 100 copies. A self-published photocopy artist’s book combining selections from Chilean poet Enrique Lihn’s typescripts, photographs, correspondence, and drawings, as well as ephemera from his various publishing projects. Created at the Arte Plano print shop with both photocopy and offset printing techniques, the book serves as both a retrospective archive and autobiography of Lihn’s work from the presidency of Salvador Allende through the first decade of the military dictatorship that followed. The book contains material related to several of Lihn’s significant projects including Cormorán magazine (1969—1970) and the experimental publication Quebrantahuesos. The title “Derechos de Autor” (which translates as “Copyright” but which literally means rights or duties of the author) carries an ironic edge, as this artist’s book freely reproduces texts and materials from many authors and sources. About 300 photocopied pages comb-bound into offset printed wrappers.

Enrique Lihn – Enrique Lihn is among the most important Chilean poets, alongside Nicanor Parra, since the generation of Gabriela Mistral, Vicente Huidobro, and Pablo Neruda, poet, playwright, and novelist. Born in 1929 in Santiago, Chile, Lihn aspired to be a painter, but after a failed attempt during university, he abandoned that dream to pursue writing. His work revolved around his contempt for the contemporary dictatorship as Chile was governed by a military junta. Works layered with social, political, and religious commentary are common throughout Lihn’s canon. One of his major influences was Henri Michaux
